Your Facilitators:
Anna has taught yoga for over ten years and brings together experience in yoga therapy, massage therapy, mindfulness, psychotherapy, education and the creative arts.
She is an IAYT-certified Yoga Therapist, qualified yoga and mindfulness teacher, massage therapist and Level 2 CBT psychotherapist accredited through the BACP. She also holds postgraduate qualifications in Art Therapy, Creative Writing and Education, with a background in neurodiversity.
For the past three years, Anna has successfully run workshops combining yoga and CBT for anxiety, helping people develop practical ways to understand and work with their anxiety.
Anna also brings personal understanding to this work. Through her own journey, she has experienced how yoga, mindfulness, CBT and creativity can offer different ways of exploring, understanding and living alongside anxiety. This informs her compassionate, non-judgemental approach and her belief that meaningful change can begin with learning to notice and understand ourselves differently.
Her approach combines body, breath, movement, mindfulness, creativity and evidence-informed psychological approaches to help people explore new possibilities and make meaningful changes.
The retreat will be co-facilitated (details to be confirmed), providing both group and one-to-one support throughout your journey, helping to create an experience that is safe, supportive, meaningful and transformative.
A Week to Pause, Notice and Change, March 1st to March 7th, Brisa Bahia Retreat, Columbia
Each day will begin and end with yoga therapy, grounding, breathing, gentle movement and meditation. Rather than traditional yoga flows, these practices offer an opportunity to slow down, breathe, reconnect with yourself and become more aware of what is happening within your body, breath, thoughts and emotions.
Set within a peaceful and restorative natural environment, the week is also an opportunity to step away from the demands of everyday life and simply be. Time spent outdoors, connecting with nature, noticing the changing landscape and enjoying the beauty and quiet around you is an important part of the retreat. There will be space to walk, rest, reflect, enjoy good food, be creative and simply experience the pleasure of having time for yourself.
Yoga therapy and mindfulness will be gently woven throughout your wider experience, helping you develop a deeper understanding of your body and nervous system, while discovering practical ways to support your sense of calm and wellbeing and respond differently when anxiety arises.
Through a combination of group sessions, paired work and one-to-one support, we will explore:
Understanding your anxiety — exploring what may trigger it, what keeps it going, and how your own patterns and responses can sometimes contribute to the cycle of anxiety.
Becoming more aware of worry and thinking patterns — learning to notice thoughts that can heighten anxiety and discovering more helpful and compassionate ways of responding to them.
Exploring your beliefs — looking at some of the deeper beliefs that can shape how you experience yourself and the world, and gently exploring whether these beliefs still serve you.
Building tolerance and acceptance — developing greater capacity to be with difficult thoughts, feelings and behaviours without always needing to fight, avoid or change them, and cultivating a more accepting and compassionate relationship with yourself.
Developing problem-solving skills — exploring practical ways to approach life's challenges, including recognising the difference between what you can influence and what you may need to accept.
Using creativity to explore and process difficult experiences — drawing on writing and art to give space to fears, worries and experiences that may be difficult to put into words, helping them feel more manageable and take up less space in your life and wellbeing.
Alongside the therapeutic work, there is plenty of time simply to enjoy being here. You might spend time outside, walk in nature, sit quietly with a cup of tea, enjoy the scenery, laugh and talk with others, or retreat into your own space. There is no pressure to make every moment productive — rest, enjoyment and a sense of connection are all part of the experience.
The aim is not to eliminate anxiety, but to help you understand it, recognise it earlier and develop greater choice in how you respond to it.
The week is an opportunity to pause, breathe and reconnect — with yourself, with other people and with the natural world around you. You will leave with a deeper awareness of yourself, your body and your patterns, together with practical tools and practices that you can continue to draw on to support your wellbeing long after the retreat has ended.

What You Take Away
The hope is that you leave feeling rested, refreshed and more connected to yourself, with a greater awareness of your body, your emotions and the patterns that can contribute to anxiety.
Having had time away from the usual demands of everyday life, surrounded by nature and supported by a small group and a warm, welcoming environment, you may also find space to reconnect with the things that help you feel well — rest, self-care, connection, creativity, movement and simply having time to be yourself.
Alongside this experience of rest and renewal, you will take away practical tools and ideas that you can continue to use at home. These may include:
Tools for grounding, breathing and supporting your nervous system.
Ways to become more aware of worry and thinking patterns, and respond to them with greater ease.
Strategies for being with difficult thoughts and feelings without allowing them to take over.
Improved problem-solving and coping skills for navigating life's challenges.
A greater sense of self-compassion, acceptance and kindness towards yourself.
Creative practices for exploring and expressing fears, worries and difficult experiences.
A clearer understanding of what you can change, what you may need to accept, and where you might begin.
Simple practices that can support your ongoing wellbeing and self-care.
Most importantly, we hope you leave with a renewed sense of possibility, connection and confidence in yourself — and with the feeling that anxiety is something you can understand, work with and live alongside, rather than something that has to control your life.
The benefits of the week can continue beyond the retreat: the memories of the landscape, the sense of having slowed down, the connections made, and the practices you have discovered can all become part of how you continue to care for yourself when you return home.
Throughout the Week
A detailed retreat handbook will be sent to you before you travel, with more information about the programme and what to expect from each day.
Alongside the therapeutic and wellbeing sessions, there will be plenty of opportunities to rest, explore, connect and enjoy your surroundings. The week will include:
Creative therapies, with opportunities to explore writing, art and other creative approaches as gentle ways of expressing and processing your experiences.
A half-day excursion, giving you the opportunity to explore more of the beautiful surroundings.
Opportunities to book additional excursions if you would like to discover more of the area.
Plenty of time to chill, rest and enjoy the beach, jungle and natural surroundings at your own pace.
Massage therapy, available to book during your stay as part of your time for rest and self-care.
One-hour one-to-one sessions, organised throughout the week to give you dedicated time for individual support and reflection.
A supportive local team available throughout your stay, ready to answer questions, help with anything you need and make your time with us as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.
There is no expectation that every moment needs to be filled. Space, rest and enjoyment are an important part of the retreat. You will have time to step away from everyday responsibilities, spend time in nature, enjoy your own company or connect with others, and discover what helps you feel restored and well.
The intention is to create a gentle balance between meaningful therapeutic and wellbeing work and the freedom to slow down, rest, explore, connect and simply enjoy being here.
This is your time — a chance to breathe, take care of yourself, experience the beauty of your surroundings and perhaps rediscover some of the simple pleasures that can become lost amongst the demands of everyday life.
2024-05-28 Amazing!!! Love Anna's teaching method and compassion.
2024-05-28 I loved that Anna had us each introduce ourselves as well as what our anxieties were about. She also allowed people to opt out of introductions, etc.
The pace of the class was excellent; techniques were explained, and options were provided.
I love to understand the impact of anatomy and physiology on anxiety, so these explanations are helpful.
2024-08-06 I loved the science/reality behind what anxiety does to the body, staying with the discomfort, and learning different breathing techniques. Thank you!

To maximize your retreat experience, a screening process will be conducted. While the retreat focuses on relaxation and recovery, some activities may evoke uncomfortable feelings since changing your habits can be unsettling. You will be required to have comprehensive health insurance.
